INFORMATION ON PET ODOR

• Urine is normally alkaline, which is why it damages wool carpets. 
• Urine is composed of water, excess proteins, hormones, inorganic salts, urea, uric acid, urochrome (a natural pigment) etc.
• Urine damaged carpets on average have three times more damage underneath the carpet as on the surface.

Sex of the Animal

There are four sexes of animals we have to content with:

• 1. Male
• 2. Female
• 3. Neutered Male
• 4. Spayed Female

The sex of the animal and whether or not that sex has been altered can be of great assistance in the decontamination procedure.

Animals that are not neutered have two things on their minds.  One of these is sex.  Males and females will actively mark their territories piddling or spraying a little bit here and a little bit there.  So we have two problem areas:  the areas which have been used by the animal to mark the territory (we find a little bit in a lot of places) and large areas of contamination when the animal thinks about emptying the kidneys.

Animals which have been neutered normally think about only one thing when it comes to kidneys and that is emptying them.  So with neutered animals we will likely find most of the contamination in several large areas.
